Steps to Ensure Compliance
1. Review the Attached Informational Notice
- The notice outlines which items are considered food-contact articles, and the specific data elements required for customs clearance.
- These may include product composition, intended use, packaging details, and regulatory certifications.
2. Complete the Products Template
- Fill out the attached template with all necessary product information, including the following required data elements:
- fdaProgramCode
- fdaProcessingCode → Please leave this blank
- fdaIntendedUseCode
- fdaSourceTypeCode → Use code: 39
- fdaProductCodeNumber → Use the FDA Product Code Builder to find the appropriate code
- Ensure accuracy and completeness to prevent processing delays.
3. Submit the Completed Template
- Email the completed template to our team at fda@stallionexpress.ca.
- This enables us to forward the information to the customs broker for review and clearance setup.
4. Importer of Record (IOR) Setup
- After receiving your completed product template, we will introduce you to our designated Customs Broker.
- They will assist you in setting up your Importer of Record (IOR)—a required step for clearing shipments into the US.
One-time cost: USD 150
Customs Bond - Clients are required to maintain an active customs bond for ongoing import activity.
Annual cost: USD 400
